Bretland Appointed Contractor for Landmark Edenderry Community Library & Arts Base Project

Bretland is proud to announce its appointment by Offaly County Council as the main contractor for the redevelopment of the former Tesco site on JKL Street, Edenderry, into a new state-of-the-art Community Library and Arts Base.

The €15 million development marks a significant investment in the future of Edenderry and will transform a long-vacant town centre site into a vibrant community, cultural, and educational destination.

The project will deliver a modern multi-functional facility featuring dedicated adult, teen, and children’s library spaces, an arts base and multi-purpose event space, artists’ studios, meeting rooms, sensory facilities, and a range of community support amenities.

In addition to the building itself, the development includes:

• Outdoor programming and activity spaces
• A new pedestrian and cycle connection linking JKL Street to Blundell Avenue
• Public realm improvements including biodiversity-focused landscaping
• Accessible parking facilities
• A new urban plaza with seating and enhanced town centre accessibility
