MBO takes Bretland Construction to a new era

Bretland Construction, a well-established construction firm based in Edenderry, Co. Offaly, has entered a new chapter with the successful completion of a Management Buyout (MBO). Founded in 1999 by Fechin and Mary Daly, the company has grown into one of Ireland’s most trusted construction providers, known for its diverse portfolio spanning bespoke residential homes to complex commercial and industrial projects nationwide.

The MBO marks the retirement of founders Fechin and Mary Daly, transferring full leadership to the current executive team: Coleman Yates (Managing Director), Anne Marie McCormack (Operations Director), Tony Meehan (Commercial Director), and Ruth Heeney (Finance Director). Under their leadership, Bretland aims to maintain its legacy of quality, integrity, and teamwork while positioning itself for continued growth.

Managing Director Coleman Yates expressed enthusiasm about the transition, calling it “a significant milestone” and an opportunity to build on the company’s strong foundations. He paid tribute to the Dalys for their mentorship and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to drive innovation and success. “Just as every successful building project starts with meticulous planning and solid foundations, our continued success will be based on our experienced and passionate team,” Yates said. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to leading the industry in quality, safety, and sustainability.

The MBO was supported by several advisors: Ross Little (Byrne Wallace Shields LLP), Owen Travers (Interpath Advisory), Derek Dervan (UHY Farrelly Dawe White), and Philip Carey (PTSB). Owen Travers described the deal as “a significant milestone for Bretland,” citing the company’s strong track record in both public and private sectors and a robust pipeline of future projects. He emphasized the leadership team’s ambition to capitalize on growth opportunities in construction, civil engineering, and infrastructure.

Bretland Construction remains committed to sustainable building and stringent safety standards, reinforcing its reputation for responsible and high-quality construction. With the MBO complete, the company is poised to continue its trajectory of success, innovation, and industry leadership under a dynamic new management era.
