Quantity Surveyor

Role and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Report directly to and work closely with the Commercial Director to ensure that Bretland’s business objectives are met and expected project profit margins are exceeded.
  • Develop good working relationships with all project stakeholders (internally and externally)
  • Site feasibility studies: Carry out site feasibility studies, establish project budgets, assist with program development, and liaise with design team members.
  • Design assist: provide advice at the different stages of design development, comment on constructability issues, cost advice on the design development and cash flow projections.
  • Procurement: Prepare and submit tenders in accordance with tender drawings and specifications, to meet tender deadlines.
  • Provide alternative pricing and submittals for procurement projects, looking at constructability issues, alternative specifications, alternative program solutions.
  • Develop cost plans/bill of quantities as required for each project.
  • Advise on contractual arrangements.
  • Prepare tender documentation for subcontractors, and suppliers, Procure, analysis and advise on tender selection.
  • Award subcontracts and work within the Bretland process and procedures.
  • Complete monthly valuations, cost reports, subcontractor payment recommendations,
  • Compile and update project cash flow projections.
  • Prepare final account including adjustment for variations and measured work, for main contract and subcontractors accounts.
  • Monitor and administer the contract and report on delays/disruptions, and other claims under the contract conditions.
  • Liaise with the design team on all of the above.
