SHEQ Manager

Role and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support the Site management team with planning, coordinating and implementing of effective Health Safety & Training policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that the business objectives are met.
  • Provide support to the Management and Operation team in all aspects of safety, occupational health, safety, Training / Development and environmental issues.
  • Oversee the Implementation of ISO 45001: Occupational Health and Safety Management System and ISO 14001: Environmental System within the company
    • Ensuring both management system conforms to the requirements of ISO 45001/14001 within the Integrated Management System and report on the performance of the OH&S management system to top management.
    • Ensuring requirements are communicated accordingly throughout the organization.
    • responsible for overseeing and amending all related ISO 45001/14001processes and documentation
  • Perform regular Health and Safety inspections and audits, report findings to site management.
  • Provide advice, guidance and instruction in all health and safety matters to management
  • Advising and assisting site management in drafting and communicating method statements, safe plans of action and toolbox talks
  • Ensure the proper permits are completed and plant & equipment forms, GA1, GA3 are filled out correctly and filed accordingly
  • Deliver health and safety induction for new employees and check inductions across all projects
  • Ensure all incidents/accidents are reported and recorded. Investigate and complete the process for close out of all Accident Investigation Reports and prepare/submit preventative measure initiatives for implementation.
  • Manage Safety Statistic reporting within and benchmark performance with relative other industries.
  • Assist in the development of project specific Health and Safety procedures.
  • Ensure premises, transportation and employees are compliant with Company policies and safety standards and that there are sufficient systems in place to monitor and safeguard same.
  • Compile relevant information for the inclusion in the safety file handover.
  • Review subcontractor insurances/paperwork and approve
  • Handling all PSCS documents
  • Assist in the development of project specific Health and Safety procedures.
  • Completing RAMs as required
  • Report good practises in reports as well as bad.
  • Maintain Records for all safety documents/briefings i.e. relevant job specific toolbox talks, Inductions, Site inspections etc
  • Update and maintain plant/safety equipment certification i.e. lifting equipment, harnesses, machines etc
  • Update and maintain various registers including but not limited to plant, work at height equipment registers, chemicals, and employee’s staff training register.
  • Ensure all electrical equipment is PAT tested and records maintained in conjunction with Yard Supervisor.
  • Review/process any current insurance claims in conjunction with Directors
  • Maintain PPE records, stock control and equipment in conjunction with Stores Supervisor.
  • Attend monthly management meetings to report on company Health & Safety
  • Organising servicing of extinguishers/equipment when required
  • Organising re-certification for equipment when required (ie lifting equipment, harnesses, etc)
  • Attend Site visits & site meetings when required.
  • Updating Employee Training certificates and scheduling necessary training as required
  • Organising servicing of extinguishers/equipment when required

  • Organising SHEQ supplies for sites
  • Emergency Arrangements and monitoring/scheduling inspections as required.
  • Review and amend Company Health & Safety presentation
  • Review and amend Site induction forms ensure they comply with GDPR regulations
  • Ensure Bretland are up to date and comply with current legislation
  • Attend monthly management meeting s to report on Company Health & Safety
  • Perform Research/Feasibility study of various Health & Safety training courses
  • Review and update Environmental Plan/Policy, including Licences/Certification to be kept current
  • Review and update Company Safety Statement and policies as required, H+S, Environmental, Energy Management, Quality, etc.
  • Carry out appropriate drills on site as required, spill drills, fire drill, etc.
  • Provide necessary training/assessments as required for Bretland staff, ie manual handling, fire warden, VDU, etc.
